After obtaining a degree in dental surgery at the University of London in the UK, Dr. Long worked in the Hospital service and private practice, in both the UK and Hong Kong. He came to UBC to gain his Masters degree in Science and his Diploma in Periodontics in the year 2000.

Dr. Long is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada as well as a Board Certified Specialist in Periodontics, Dental Implants, and Gum Disease Treatment.

Dr. Long maintains professional memberships with the Canadian and American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Ossiointegration, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), North Shore Implant Seminars, and the North Shore Dental Seminar group. Dr. Long resides on the North Shore of Vancouver with his wife and 2 children, and enjoys many of the outdoor activities that beautiful British Columbia has to offer.
